How We Research
Every itinerary on this site starts with on-the-ground research. Walking routes are physically walked and timed. Restaurant recommendations come from eating at the restaurant — not from reading reviews. Transport schedules are verified against official Carris, Metro de Lisboa, and CP (Comboios de Portugal) timetables.
We cross-reference venue details against Google Places API data for accuracy on opening hours, addresses, and contact information. Where discrepancies exist between Google and official sources, we defer to the official source and note the conflict.
How We Verify
Before publication, every piece of content goes through a two-stage verification process:
- 1AI fact-checking. An automated pipeline cross-references prices, schedules, and factual claims against official tourism sources, museum websites, and transport authority data. Flagged discrepancies are queued for human review.
- 2Human editorial review. A human editor verifies flagged items, checks tone and accuracy, and confirms that the content matches the on-the-ground experience. No guide publishes without this step.
How Often We Update
Every guide on this site is part of a monthly verification cycle. The “Updated [Month] 2026” badge in the navigation reflects the date of the last complete content audit.
- ✓Monthly: Full audit of prices, hours, closures, and schedule changes across all guides.
- ✓Within 48 hours: Major changes — permanent closures, significant price increases, new attractions — are updated as soon as they become known.
- ✓Quarterly: Full itinerary re-walk to confirm routing, timing, and experience quality.
What “Locally Audited” Means
“Locally audited” is not a marketing phrase. It means that during each audit cycle, recommended venues are physically confirmed — not just checked on a website. We verify that restaurants are still open, that stated prices match the menu, and that the experience described in our guides matches reality. If something has changed, we update or remove the recommendation.
Our Editorial Policy
No affiliate rankings. Restaurant and attraction recommendations are based on quality, not commissions. We do not accept payment for placement in any guide.
No sponsored content. Guides are written independently. If we ever partner with a venue or service, it will be clearly disclosed.
Honest assessments. If a popular attraction isn't worth the hype (Tram 28 in peak season, for example), we say so. If a cheaper alternative exists, we recommend it.
